My Lovely Sam Soon

anybody watched the korean series My lovely Sam Soo? i dont normally watch korean drama, but this is the exception. it's hilarious. i will never miss a day, so i'll make sure i'm home every weekdays before 8.30 p.m.

its a romantic comedy about Kim Sam-Soon (played by Kim Suna who gained 15kg to play the part) a homely 30 year old pastry chef (who is fat by korean standard) who fell in love with a young, handsome and rich restoran owner Hyun Jin-heon (played by Hyun Bin) after they signed a 'love contract'. its a story of women empowerment, where a woman doesn't have to be bautiful and young and refine to catch a man's heart. despite being a unlady like, obstinate and speaks her mind, she managed to be endearing at the same time. and her kindness and spirit caught the prince charming's heart despite the rough roads they had to travel.

now why cant malay movies/drama be that exciting. i dont watch much malay series on tv cos they dont seem real. normal ppl dont speak in formal Bahasa Melayu. they speak what we all call 'bahasa pasar'. it makes me feel as if i'm watching the news or something. especially if it was meant to be a comedy. the thing i noticed about malay comedy is, if the cast is as big as a house, or as skinny as a rail, or has buck teeth.. they are funny. doh! thats discrimination. and they are always trying too hard to be funny.

what makes a show funny most of the time is the script. the korean series My Lovely Sam Soon has a great script. and the characters are very interesting. no stereotyping there. they show that there's no black and white in life. no good and bad.. instead the good can sometimes be bad and the bad can sometimes be good... and still be damn funny. the main character Kim Sam-Soon is a woman who speaks what she thinks, honest to a point of being rude but has a kind heart that makes ppl who hates her LIKE her. one can never completely hate her. and the hero Hyun Jin-heon is a rich chauvinist who thinks his money can buy him anything and he can be a complete snob. but his tormented soul melts the heroine's heart. even the hero's mother the dragon lady has a good side.

My Lovely Sam Soon or My Name is Kim Sam-Soon (Nae Ireumeun Kim Sam-Soon) was the most popular Korean TV drama in 2005.

Getting Close to Nature

Last Saturday, me and my two sis went to the nite safari at the Malacca Zoo. it was really just a spur of the moment thingy. we were just 'leparking' (lazing) around in the living room when my sis suddenly jumped up and said " lets go to the nite safari!" it was 6.30 p.m and Malacca is about 1 1/2 hrs away from where we live. but then, it is the nite safari, and it just won't do to arrive there early, so by 7 p.m we were off.

the highlight of the day has got to be the slow loris (cakap melayu nyer kongkang ). These little critters really steal our hearts with their soulful big starry eyes and slow poetic movement. and they are slow, the make their movement seems like a form of art. they are really from the primate family, and they spend most of their time on trees. they have big eyes that are fixed, so that to see the surrounding areas, they have to move their head just like an owl.

but the attention grabber had to be the armless slow loris (it was featured in Majalah 3). it uses its legs only to climb up trees and swings from branches. its really amazing. and he really love the attention he got from visitors. the more people, the greater its antics. show off! we spend 30 minutes outside the lorises cage just watching them. i wished i had my digi cam then. but it was a spur of the moment kinda trip, i didnt have time to charge digi cam.

we also went to the zoo gallery where they display real authentic hehehe frozen animals, including the famous Puchong Crocodile, so named cos it was captured at the Puchong old mine. Man! the sucker is BIG. it had to be about 10 feet long and as heavy as a tanker.

by 11 p.m our feet was aching and its time to head home, but not before stopping by the souvenir shop. i bought myself a miniature dragon fly on a stick complete with flapping wings when shaken. by 11.30 p.m were were on the highway, only stopping to eat. by 1.30 a.m i was already in never-never land.

all in all it has been a worthy day, a difference than our normal weekends spent sleeping, eating, watching tv, surfing the net, eating , sleeping, and did i mentioned eating?

I've Regained my Memory

Not that bad huh.. 6 months since my last post. my previous record was a year. i confessed tho, the real reason i remembered at all about this blog is because i've added in into one of my favourite links, and this morning i accidently clicked on it when i meant to click on something else. ok, i'm gonna meditate for a minute to find inspiration on what to write. be back in a jiffy!
