Getting Close to Nature

Last Saturday, me and my two sis went to the nite safari at the Malacca Zoo. it was really just a spur of the moment thingy. we were just 'leparking' (lazing) around in the living room when my sis suddenly jumped up and said " lets go to the nite safari!" it was 6.30 p.m and Malacca is about 1 1/2 hrs away from where we live. but then, it is the nite safari, and it just won't do to arrive there early, so by 7 p.m we were off.

the highlight of the day has got to be the slow loris (cakap melayu nyer kongkang ). These little critters really steal our hearts with their soulful big starry eyes and slow poetic movement. and they are slow, the make their movement seems like a form of art. they are really from the primate family, and they spend most of their time on trees. they have big eyes that are fixed, so that to see the surrounding areas, they have to move their head just like an owl.

but the attention grabber had to be the armless slow loris (it was featured in Majalah 3). it uses its legs only to climb up trees and swings from branches. its really amazing. and he really love the attention he got from visitors. the more people, the greater its antics. show off! we spend 30 minutes outside the lorises cage just watching them. i wished i had my digi cam then. but it was a spur of the moment kinda trip, i didnt have time to charge digi cam.

we also went to the zoo gallery where they display real authentic hehehe frozen animals, including the famous Puchong Crocodile, so named cos it was captured at the Puchong old mine. Man! the sucker is BIG. it had to be about 10 feet long and as heavy as a tanker.

by 11 p.m our feet was aching and its time to head home, but not before stopping by the souvenir shop. i bought myself a miniature dragon fly on a stick complete with flapping wings when shaken. by 11.30 p.m were were on the highway, only stopping to eat. by 1.30 a.m i was already in never-never land.

all in all it has been a worthy day, a difference than our normal weekends spent sleeping, eating, watching tv, surfing the net, eating , sleeping, and did i mentioned eating?
